- Conduct technical training on appropriate animal health and welfare practices to livestock owner groups members in each district (including: animal handling, housing and feeding, identifying disease, seeking treatment).
- Livestock owner group's members receive awareness raising education sessions on animal health and welfare and the benefits of investing in animal health, conducted jointly by project staff, DAIL staff, and VFUs Paravets.
- Distribution of basic dairy processing equipment to women livestock groups.
- Establish livestock owner's groups in each target community.
- Mobilize communities in line with project objectives, conduct surveys and need assessments at the target communities to identify eligible project livestock owner groups.
- Facilitate inter and intra-provincial learning opportunities to LOG members (exposure visits)
- With support Project staff build capacity of LOG elected committee members through training in bookkeeping, compliance, and leadership training.
- Instruct livestock owner groups on medicine usages, benefit of vaccine and administration of vaccine for livestock disease prevention.
- With support project staff facilitate meetings and strengthen linkages between LOGs and DAIL District Extension Officers, livestock producer associations and livestock marketing co-operatives.
- Follow up vaccination seasons and keep livestock owner groups knowledge updated.
- Instruct men/women on personal and environmental hygiene, housing, water sanitation, dairy processing and health care issues.
- Conduct regular monitoring of livestock production, status stables and livestock treatment process.
- Collect necessary data and information to keep track of change in attitudes and practices of target livestock owner groups
- Maintain good relation with the communities, area representatives and VFUs paravets.
- Conduct regular Meetings with target livestock owner group and ensure proper coordination network is established.
- Assist to prepare, quarterly and monthly plans for effective execution of the project activities as stipulated in the project document.
- Conduct equine and cattle animal's health camps, vaccination camps etc in close coordination with DAIL, VFUs.
- Submission field reports, monthly, quarterly to project coordinator in a timely manner.
- Provide dairy processing training including ( fresh milk , making yogurt , Cheese, butter , dry qorut) to the female farmers .
- Maintain regular contact with key district departments such as DAIL, and other NGOs working in livestock area.
- Develop and maintain relationships with VFUs in districts Daikundi provinces
- Ensure that Livestock officer produces 1 - 2 success stories during every quarter of the project;
- Document key challenges faced and lessons learnt on a quarterly basis.
- Prepare and submit to Senior Project Coordinator monthly progress reports against work plan by the 10th of the following month.
- 3-year experience of working in INGO development programme
- Possess at least a BSc degree in agriculture.
- At least 3 years of working experience.
- Evidence of a highly developed computer literacy
- Knowledge of Dari and Pashtu language will be an added value.
- Committed and honest in his/her work
- Ability to provide technical supervision, motivate and train project livestock owners and farmers.
- Fluency in written and spoken in English, Dari, and Pashto.
- A clear and firm commitment to the rights, equality, role, and empowerment of women, minorities, and persons with special needs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to persuasively present ideas.
- Proficiency in office software applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Personal integrity with initiative and drive to get things done and achieve results in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, and the ability to work with significant levels of autonomy, manage personal priorities and meet tight deadlines.
