- Ensure accurate tax deduction at source and transfer or deposit into the Government Account within the deadlines set by law.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual withholding tax reports to the Ministry of Finance.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of the organization's annual Income Tax Return (ITR).
- Assist in obtaining, applying, and renewing tax exemption certificates in accordance with the Income Tax Law and NGO-specific guidelines.
- Collect tax reports from third parties who withhold taxes on behalf of the organization.
- Reconcile tax-related balances with suppliers, service providers, and contractors, and provide tax deduction documents to our suppliers in a timely manner.
- Maintain complete and accurate tax documentation and filing systems for audit and reporting.
- Stay updated on amendments to the Afghanistan Income Tax Law and implement relevant changes into practice.
- Coordinate with internal departments to gather supporting documentation for tax filings and audits.
- Support internal and external audits related to tax matters by organizing and providing required documents.
- Assist in calculating taxes applicable to employee salaries, rental agreements, and vendor payments as needed.
- Respond to tax-related letters, notices, and queries from the Ministry of Finance or other authorities.
- Enter tax data and transactions into accounting systems or tracking tools accurately.
- Review vendor invoices and payments to ensure tax compliance.
- Participate in the review and verification of BRT and other indirect tax reporting processes.
- Monitor due dates and ensure on-time submission of all project-related tax obligations.
- Assist the Senior Finance Manager during communication and meetings with the Ministry of Finance and tax offices.
- Keep track of incoming and outgoing tax correspondence within the finance department.
- Adhere to organizational policies and ethical standards when dealing with sensitive financial data.
- Perform any other project-related tax duties assigned by the Senior Finance Manager.
- Good knowledge of financial management
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in taxation, especially related to withholding tax and income tax filing under Afghanistan's Income Tax Law.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a rapidly changing environment; and follow instructions and to ask for help when necessary
- Treats all people fairly without favoritism and solves problems in collaborative ways.
- Courteous and polite when representing ACBAR, and ability to work in a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word), and accounting software like QuickBooks.
- Knowledge of MoF reporting procedures and tax filing platforms.
- Ability to visit and conduct face to face meetings with NGO partners
- Demonstrate very good written and verbal communications skills in English, Dari and Pashto
- Ability to train in English and Pashto, Dari
- Ability to understand methodology used for pre- and post-tests, evaluations, data collection related to training to assess training results and participant improvement
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with quality results.
