- Develop and implement field monitoring plans aligned with project indicators and logframe.
- Conduct frequent field visits to collect, verify, and document project data (shelter progress, beneficiary lists, distribution records, etc.).
- Maintain and update beneficiary databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Track progress against project performance indicators and ensure timely data entry into internal and donor reporting systems.
- Evaluation and Learning
- Assist in designing and conducting surveys, assessments, and post-distribution monitoring (PDM).
- Facilitate beneficiary feedback mechanisms (hotline, FGDs, interviews, suggestion boxes) to strengthen accountability.
- Document lessons learned, best practices, and challenges to improve future programming.
- Reporting and Accountability
- Compile M&E findings and provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager and Project Officer.
- Contribute to donor reporting requirements, including AHF reporting and Shelter/NFI Cluster inputs.
- Ensure compliance with Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) and SDO's organization policies.
- Capacity Building and Support
- Provide technical support to field teams on data collection tools, beneficiary registration, and reporting templates.
- Conduct training/orientation sessions for project staff on M&E procedures and accountability mechanisms.
- Ensure gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches in all data collection and monitoring activities.
- Participate in coordination meetings as required.
- Undertake other tasks assigned by the supervisor in line with project needs.
- Bachelor's degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, Statistics, or related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in M&E, data collection, or project accountability within NGOs/INGOs, preferably in emergency response and shelter programs.
- Strong knowledge of M&E methodologies (quantitative & qualitative), tools, and frameworks.
- Familiarity with humanitarian standards (Sphere, CHS, and Shelter/NFI Cluster tools).
- Strong analytical and report writing skills.
- Knowledge of digital data collection tools (Kobo, ODK, SurveyCTO) is an asset.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Fluency in Dari and Pashto; good English writing and reporting skills.
- Ability to travel frequently to field sites, sometimes under difficult conditions.
