Job DescriptionBackgroundThe FCDO-IPS project is designed to improve the safety, well-being, and development of children and adolescents in Herat, Badghis, and Farah provinces. It emphasizes access to protection services, community-based child protection structures, and empowering vulnerable groups. As part of this initiative, WASSA collaborates with WCUK/FCDO to implement activities centered on child protection, gender equality, disability inclusion, and community resilience.The Child Protection Technical Office will oversee the project's technical implementation in all three Provinces, ensuring effective technical assurance and timely delivery of services to the BNFs.Role and responsibilitiesThe Child Protection Technical Officer is responsible for ensuring protection mainstreaming within the protection programme activities. She/he would have close coordination with the Protection supervisor to receive regular guidance on how to ensure and maintain Child Safe Programming measures in place, in line with Safe Programming Guidelines and Policies. She/he will also provide guidance and leadership in the implementation of the Better Learning Programme.Key Responsibilities * Technical Support & Program Implementation

Provide technical guidance to field teams on child protection interventions and case management
Support the design and implementation of child protection activities in line with project objectives
Ensure all activities follow child protection standards, guidelines, and SOPs
Case Management Oversight

Oversee identification, assessment, and documentation of at-risk and vulnerable children
Ensure proper referral pathways are followed for specialized services
Monitor quality of case management and provide coaching to case workers
Ensure confidentiality and best interest of the child in all cases
Capacity Building

Conduct trainings for staff, partners, and community members on child protection, safeguarding, and PSEA
Develop training materials and provide ongoing mentoring and technical support

Community Engagement & Awareness

Support establishment and strengthening of community-based child protection mechanisms
Organize awareness sessions on child rights, protection risks, and prevention strategies
Engage with parents, caregivers, and community leaders to promote child well-being
Coordination & Representation

Coordinate with government authorities, NGOs, and protection clusters
Participate in relevant coordination meetings and working groups
Strengthen referral networks and partnerships for comprehensive child protection services
Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

Monitor project activities and ensure quality implementation
Prepare regular reports (weekly, monthly, donor reports)
Maintain accurate records, case files, and data management systems (e.g., CPIMS if applicable)
Safeguarding & Compliance

Ensure all project activities comply with child safeguarding and protection policies
Promote Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) principles
Report and respond to any safeguarding concerns appropriately
Program Development Support

Contribute to proposal writing, assessments, and project design
Provide technical input for improving program quality and impact

Working Conditions

40% Herat Province, 30% BDG and 30% FRH Provinces.
May involve working in challenging environments.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher Public Administration, Law, Sociology or other related fields.
3 years of experience in similar filed in same province.
Computer skills at operator level especially with MS Office packages.
Ability and willingness to field visits of Protection Case Management and child protection in the relevant province.
Fluency in local languages Dari/Pashto, and English both written and spoken

Interpersonal and communication skills. * General knowledge of Afghanistan's criminal justice system procedures and process.

Competent knowledge of victims' rights as outlined in the Law Eliminating Violence against Children and adolescent (girls and boys).
Ability to maintain composure when dealing with difficult and/or emotional people.
Ability to listen and respond professionally.
Demonstrable proficiency in statistical data maintenance and report writing.
