- Lead community sensitization efforts regarding project objectives, targeting criteria, and beneficiary registration.
- Facilitate coordination with local authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of activities.
- Assist in the development of detailed monthly implementation plans and support the registration and verification of target households.
- Monitor field activities, identify challenges, and support timely resolution in collaboration with the project team.
- Participate in needs assessments and ensure accurate documentation of findings.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly progress reports to the WASH Officer and Project Manager.
- Analyze assessment data and contribute to reporting on community needs, project impact, and lessons learned.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local authorities, and partner organizations.
- Support the documentation of success stories and best practices in collaboration with the WASH Officer and Project Manager.
- Maintain awareness of the local security, political, and cultural context to ensure safe and effective project delivery.
- Ensure adherence to Mercy Corps’ protocols, safety standards, and ethical guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting and documentation in coordination with the WASH Officer, Project Manager, and other team members.
- Represent Mercy Corps in community meetings and stakeholder engagements within the project areas.
- Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies as determined by country leadership.

- Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically
- Minimum of a 14th-grade education in social sciences, law, nutrition, economics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in WASH or community-based programming.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage in diverse communities.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in challenging environments.
- Familiarity with child protection and gender-sensitive programming.
- Experience working with community-based structures and local governance systems.
- Knowledge of the western provinces, particularly Herat, is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in English and Pashto (spoken and written); Dari is an asset.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications and basic data management tools.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to humanitarian principles.
