- Maintain close coordination with the project team and stakeholders to identify and prioritize accessible villages or areas for the construction of water harvesting structures.
- Conduct a survey and feasibility study of the area to identify a place for the construction of the irrigation structure.
- Prepare detailed drawings, design, maps, technical specifications, and cost estimates of the designated irrigation schemes based on the project's possibilities.
- To carry out site assessment of the area before commencement of the construction works and ensure availability of quality construction materials.
- Responsible for a wide range of irrigation engineering activities, including the water harvesting structures/check dams and other related works at the site.
- Oversee on-site construction activities and coordinate with the contractor to ensure proper execution and adherence to design.
- Regular supervision of the field-related activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and environmental guidelines, as per the planned timeline.
- Prepare plans and schedule for project delivery and regular analysis of all schedule trends.
- Conduct meetings, establish, and maintain strong working relationships with targeted communities, including local leaders, community-based committees, and the elders.
- Design and develop training manuals and presentations to conduct theoretical and practical training for the targeted water users on the operation, maintenance, and sustainable use of the irrigation structures.
- Act as a main contact point between the project and the community members/water users to strengthen the linkages between targeted farmers and the project team.
- Organize joint field visits and update the line manager on daily accomplishments on time.
- Prepare and submit on time the written weekly, monthly, and other required, progressive reports of the achievements.
- Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.
- Bachelor's degree in irrigation/water supply Engineering, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in water resources engineering, preferably with a focus on rainwater harvesting techniques and watershed principles.
- Survey and design knowledge using relevant computer-aided software.
- Knowledge and experience in workshop facilitation, training, and presentations.
- Professional experience with management, design, and construction of small-scale irrigation infrastructures.
- Expert in the design of all kinds of hydraulic structures, which include but are not limited to water harvesting/watershed structures.
- Community mobilization, and good communication skills in English and fluency in Pashto and Dari.
- Previous experience of working with NGOs in the targeted area is a plus.
- Excellent technical and analytical report writing skills.
